Loire legends Michel Chevre and Nady Foucault throw their weight behind these extraordinarily good wines. Securing two of the most respected and revered Loire wine legends as consultants, indicates the stratospheric standard Domaine des Closiers has reached. Michel Chevréis an organic vigneron guru who cut his teeth with Thierry Germain at famed Roche Neuve; Nady Foucault was a driving force behind the celebrated, almost mystical Clos Rougeard (the most expensive Cabernet Franc in the world). The Domaine is only 15 ha but has a fine patchwork of mature vines -beautifully; almost perfectly-sited, on limestone / clay slopes (welldrained) facing the Loire. This estate, that for generations grown grapes and made wine that was sold in bulk to negociants, is now organic and has a HEV3 (High Environmental Value) certification, earned for the estate’s recent work in biodiversity. Everything is hand-picked and the vines are an average of 35yo. No additives except for a little SO2.
